The Maker's Diet review:5 stars (The best diet based on the what God intended for us!!!!!!!!!!!) - The foods that are sold in the stores are so over processed and treated with so many chemicals that by the time we get them they can only do harm to our bodies because they aren't any good for us anymore. The fresh produce is sprayed with pesticides, and treated with radiation to kill the enzymes so that they don't spoil so quickly, but these are enzymes our bodies need to process the foods that we eat (and the government approved this treatment to our fresh produce). And all the sugar that is in most of the processed foods, it is hard to try to avoid refined sugar. I have read the book twice so far and because I am always looking at it, the book has become a permanent fixture on my coffee table. There is so much information in this book that I am still learning from it, and I have owned it for about 2 months now. I quit eating bread almost a year ago. But this book showed me what bread to eat, I now eat bread made with sprouted grains and contains no flour, with the wonderful results of no bloated feeling and no constipation. Sure some supplements are offered in the book, but these are things that you can get at most health food stores or from growing your own garden of fresh produce. The book has some great things in it. This book never promised to make me loose weight, only to make me feel better. And I really do feel better with just a couple changes that I have made. I drink kefir and it has lots of the good bacteria in it that is talked about in this book. My cat also drinks the kefir and doesn't get the diarriah that he used to get with cows milk. I always have said that my son got so big because of the hormones in beef, now I know that I was probably right, because there are hormones and anti-biotics in milk and/or the meat products, and these things are put there when injections are given to the cattle!!!!!!!!!! Come on people wake up!!!!!!! Sure some things may cost more, but do you want to be healthy or feel like crap?2 stars (Propoganda) - I have written a letter to the organization about my impression of the book. I am totally disgusted and disappointed. I agree with an earlier review that said it is expensive to follow. For anyone that wants to shell out some 'thou' for an air-purification system or grass-fed meat, good luck to you. I think it is as the first reviewer expressed, biased and marketed. He seems to bash other diets and wants us to follow his. He condemns vegetarian and diets that omit meat. I personally don't agree that God wants us to kill other animals for the sake of sustenance. We certainly have other choices beyond these. He doesn't provide any statistical evidence about his claims in his book or on the website, which makes me to think he just got out of the hospital, maybe went to school for a little while, and decided to follow the capitalist way of making money off his diet. Patient Heal Thyself was printed in 2000, which supports that theory. I would recommend anyone who is considering this diet, to make informed decisions about their own health, and do some research prior to following the diet.5 stars (Healthy living for the average person.) - It's so easy to get confused at the information that is available. It seems like all the experts have conflicting opinions. Everything I read in this book makes sense to me and it was easy to understand.
I have to admit that when I first got the book I flipped through it like most people do and I was overwhelmed, but when I started to read it from cover to cover I discovered that there are immediate changes I can make to truly make a difference in mine and my families life. Little things that won't throw my husband and kids into shock... I am a typical East-Texas country woman. I have a husband who likes to eat down home country cooking and four children who like typical kids meals.
We are on a tight budget and most plans out there to lead a healthy lifestyle don't allow any room for modification. In this book are things I can do that don't cost a penny and lots that I have shifted the money I used to spend on junk food to implement. Anyone can do this. (the recipies in it are good too!)
I highly recommend this book to anyone. It keeps it real!
