Pokemon Emerald with Frontier Battle Tin - 4 stars (My Favorite Pokemon Game So Far) -
Pokemon Emerald with Frontier Battle Tin review:4 stars (My Favorite Pokemon Game So Far) - I have played FireRed, Ruby, and Sapphire, and have watched friends over their shoulders play the others, and I was blown away with Emerald the moment I turned it on. Even the introduction (with the bike and the Pokemon around it) was eye-catching and made me want to play for hours on end.
Overall, this game has had the best animations of all of the Pokemon games. They were colorful and creative, and they kept me interested.
Yes, it was extremely difficult compared the FireRed, especially when trying to beat the Elite Four. I recorded at seven tries at their battles, and was beginning to feel frustrated. I went out, explored Hoenn, and came back with a new determination and a little something extra. (Hint, hint)
My absolute favorite part was the addition to the Safari Zone. The new Pokemon hidden in the grass, the water, and the rocks, were ones that I had mostly never seen before.
I did lose interest after beating the Elite Four and exploring the Battle Frontier. The fact that you do not gain EXP from the battles in any of the buildings made me kinda mad. (You also do not record the opponent's Pokemon in your PokeDex, which is the whole point at the end.) It's worth it, nonetheless, because you experience the Battle Frontier and find several new Pokemon that you can catch and record.
I still have not found Latios/Latias yet, and am looking for Kyogre and Groudon. (Hint: Weather been stormy? Check out the STATION.)
Once again, I was excited and enthralled with a Pokemon game, and I cannot wait until the next enstallment. I heard it is Pokemon Diamond for the Nintendo DS...is that true?
Anyway, it is definetly NOT a money-waster. Be prepared to be wowed by yet another GREAT Pokemon game!5 stars (Incredible) - Having played, and hugely enjoyed, Ruby and Sapphire, I was massively looking forward to Emerald. I was not dissappointed. This is stunning, and includes many new, or different features. It is perfect for anyone - it eases you gently in if you are a new Pokemon fan, but it quickly adds extra spice for those who have played all other Pokemon games to death. The most striking of these is a whole new section, called the Battle Frontier, which is essentially a Pokemon theme park. There are 7 battle areas, one of which is the already seen Battle Tower, but even this has a new twist. The others are The Battle Pyramid, The Battle Dome, The Battle Pike, The Battle Arena, The Battle Factory and The Battle palace. All of these are incredibly difficult challenges for hardcore trainers; once completed, badges are earned which have effects just like gym badges. It is one awesome section.
To add to the fun, features have been adapted, such as compatability with the Wireless Communicator from Pokemon Fire Red/leaf Green, and the full Pokedex of 386 pokemon! You can of course link with the GameCube for more options. Best of all, if you have a DS and Pokemon Dash, you can put Emerald into your DS for some awesome track options.
The storyline has also been changed: now, you fight both Team Aqua AND Team Magma, and both Kyogre and Groudon are unleashed for you to catch. I won't say any more, but the storyline also features the mighty Rayquaza.
As in Fire Red/Leaf Green, Johto and Kanto pokemon have been incorporated into parts of the game. There are also:
- cool extras, such as the mobile phones and other features from Gold and Silver
- new ways of battling, new battle animations, and new moves
- new Pokemon abilities with new effects, including some related to breeding
- whole new sections, more double battles, and my 3 personal favourites:
1. You can battle gym leaders up to 4 times and each time they get stronger
2. You can get the JOHTO STARTER POKEMON if you catch all 200 Pokemon in the Hoenn Pokedex
3. There are areas, like in Fire Red/Leaf Green, where you can catch Kanto and Johto Pokemon
Overall, Pokemon Emerald is a truly massive game that serious trainers could be on for years. If you're worried about similarities with Ruby and Sapphire, well, there are noticeable likenesses, but there so much that has been slightly changed, and so many new features that even people who played Ruby and Sapphire to death will still be kept occupied. I cannot even mention everything new, but even without these features, Pokemon Emerald would still be a fantastic game. As it is, it is the best RPG around, perhaps the best of all time. It's certainly the longest I've ever played!
4 stars (Pokemon Emerald, Enlighten yourself) - Although this game is the best game out right now for the GBA pokemon series it still has alot of bummers aloft.
Theres no Action Replays out that work on it.
The game gets very boring after you beat it I bet you wont even last long enough to get ONE badge in Frontier.
Just like Ruby/Sapphire, after you catch and fill all your Hoenn Dex all that happens is you get to look at a stupid certificate which isn't even an item you get to keep. You just talk to the guy and he shows you your certificate. Yeah you also get one of the three Johto starters after you fill the Hoenn Dex but you could just get all three from Colloseum.
You'll find more enjoyment in Zelda Minish cap or Link to the past. If you dislike the zelda games then you'll have to go with this I guess.
